Asian Plum Marinade

This is good for beef, pork, chicken, seafood, or tofu. Makes enough for 2 lbs of meat.  Here it is shown with  ribeye steak that was sliced after grilling.

Soy sauce can be a problem for some people.  Check the ingredients to make sure there is no miso or fermented ingredients listed. You can also substitute the soy sauce with 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 tablespoon of water.

2 lbs. protein of your choice
½ cup plum jam
¼ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
½ teaspoon garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic if desired)
1 tablespoon garlic chives or scallion, very finely chopped

Heat the plum and soy over medium heat in a small pot. Bring to a boil, whisking until jam melts.
Turn down the heat and add sugar, garlic and chives. Whisk.
Cool for several minutes and then add to meat.  Be sure to use a container that is the right size to allow the meat to sit in the marinade. Set some marinade aside to glaze with if desired.
Allow to marinate for at least an hour.
Grill or broil meat until it is cooked to your desired doneness.
